The Armory is known for it's hipster scene with exceptional hang-outs and funky eateries localized around Broadway and Cranston St. While largely developed in recent decades, the Armory still maintains it unique roots in quirky restaurants and holistic medicine shops. The district is the most quickly evolving area of the city while still containing the "old world charm" of the more posh East Side/College Hill area. Federal Hill is also known as the "Little Italy" of Rhode Island and its shops and restaurants reflect the background and soul of the area. Glasser reiterates that the entire journey comes together for each character on 1883, for good or bad the closure they needed was achieved. Rather than throw Elsa's death in the finale as a way to shock audiences and get them to tune in for a second season, 1883 was leading to this end from the very beginning. Producer David Glasser echoed Sheridan's opinion that this is a story that had a definitive ending from the beginning.
